Most of the drivers and passengers of the vehicles involved in the mass collision exited their cars and were inspecting the damage.
Visibility on the road was poor due to dense fog.
Employees of the Almaty Region Police Department were working at the scene.
Ambulance vehicles arrived at the scene.
There were parts on the road that likely belonged to one of the vehicles.
The accident involved not only passenger cars but also cargo vehicles.
Significant damage to the cars was visible.
It is worth noting that the number of vehicles involved in the accident could have been higher if the drivers had not been warned about the risks on the road.
At the same time, "QazAvtoZhol" reported that, as of now, 16 out of the 18 vehicles involved in the accident on the Almaty – Ust-Kamenogorsk highway have been removed. Two vehicles are still at the median strip, waiting for tow trucks.
The mass accident in Almaty Region occurred without any fatalities or injuries.
Let us remind you that the accident occurred on January 15 at around 07:30 on the 28th kilometer of the Almaty – Ust-Kamenogorsk highway (direction Almaty – Konayev). According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was speeding and failure to maintain a safe distance by the drivers due to limited visibility. This section of the road belongs to the IA technical category and has 6 lanes. It was noted that the road surface was dry, smooth, and free of any foreign objects.
