Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan has introduced changes to the rules for castrating convicted offenders prior to their release from prison.
What changes are being proposed?
According to the draft order, a new amendment proposes the use of chemical castration. It will now be administered six months before the offender’s release if they were convicted of sexual violence.
At the same time, no later than twelve months before release, case materials must be submitted to the court to order a forensic psychiatric examination to determine whether the convict has mental disorders or a tendency toward sexual violence.
The draft order has been published on the legal acts portal and is open for public discussion until August 18, 2025.
