Tengrinews.kz - The akimat (the local government administration) of Aktau has begun preparations for the reconstruction project of the Caspian Sea embankment to improve infrastructure and create a more modern and comfortable space for recreation, according to Lada.kz.
However, the palm trees along the embankment, which had delighted residents and visitors for five years, are no longer included in the project.
Initially, it was planned to protect the artificial trees from bad weather during the winter by covering them with nets. However, over time, most of the branches broke, and some structures were damaged by strong gusts of wind. According to the department, there are currently no spare parts available to restore the palms.
It is worth noting that the first palms in Aktau appeared in mid-February 2019. A total of 100 palms were installed along the embankment, spaced every 15 meters. Each palm is 11 meters tall.
