Only four Kazakhstan officers will go to Afghanistan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing official representative of Foreign Affairs Ministry Askar Abdrakhmanov. As per Abdrakhmanov, the agreement between Kazakhstan and NATO provides for sending four Kazakhstan officers to the International Security Assistant Forces (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan with a six-months rotation. “Two of them are military analytics, one epidemiologist and one combat service support expert. Thus, we are not talking about sending Kazakhstan combat forces. This is participation in international assistance to Afghanistan Government and Parliament approved by UN and elected by Afghan population in provision of security and restoration of peaceful life in this country,” the Ministry’s representative said. He noted that 47 countries joined international coalition in Afghanistan. 19 of them are NATO member states and 6 are in the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). According to Abdrakhmanov, Kazakhstan militarymen will be working in the headquarters protected by the coalition troops. By Maksim Popov
