Tengrinews.kz - A large-scale sporting event will be held in Astana in January – a stage of the prestigious World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold series, where stars of world athletics will take part, according to Olympic.kz.
The tournament, known for its high standards and level of participants, will be held on January 25 at the Qazaqstan Athletics Complex.
About the tournament
World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold is a winter series of athletics competitions that annually brings together the elite of sports from around the world. The tournament is one of the top events of the season and is an analog of the "Diamond League" of the summer period. As part of the series, athletes compete for ranking points and the opportunity to receive a Wild Card to participate in the World Championships, which will be held in March in Nanjing (China).
The Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes competition will be the first of nine planned stages. The next starts will be held in Serbia, the USA, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Poland and Spain.

The following track and field stars will compete:
Andre De Grasse (Canada) is an Olympic champion and multiple winner of major tournaments.
Kishane Thompson (Jamaica) is a silver medalist at the Paris Olympics.
Marquis Dendy (USA) is a winner of world championship medals in the long jump.
Natasha Morrison (Jamaica) is a two-time world champion and Olympic champion.
Nia Ali (USA) is a world champion and Olympic silver medalist.
Strong participants are also expected among Kazakhstani athletes. The final composition of the national team will be known later, after analyzing the results of the Kazakhstan Cup.

Medals will be awarded in the following disciplines:
Men: 60m, 400m, 1500m, 60m hurdles, high jump and long jump.
Women: 60m, 400m, 3000m, 60m hurdles, high jump, triple jump and shot put.
