Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed to deal with extremists, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President's press-service. Further measures to enhance religious stability was discussed at the meeting of the Security Council today, July 22. Head of the President's Adiminstration Aslan Mussin gave a speech at the meeting. “It was noted at the meeting that Kazakhstan is a secular country with freedom of religion, however it does not mean that authorities must just step away from regulation of religious relations. Spread of religious-extremist ideology has to be stopped in Kazakhstan. Authorities should focus on rooting out open campaigns aimed at destruction of the constitutional system and constituting a threat to life and health of the citizens,” the press-service reported from the meeting. “The President instructed law-enforcing and other state authorities to identify and take immediate action against religiou extremist manifestations. Akims (Mayors) of Astana, Almaty and oblasts have to enhance educational and preventive works, control compliance of religious unions with the legislation currently in effect. Large scope of practical tasks has been given to the Agency for Religion,” the President's website writes. Kazakhstan Prime-Minister also took part in the meeting of the Security Council. “Took part in the Security Council meeting,” Karim Massimov tweeted.
