Tengrinews.kz - The National Security Committee, in coordination with the General Prosecutor's Office, has intercepted a regional drug supply channel from southern regions of Kazakhstan to Astana.
It was reported that a "drug courier" was detained during the transportation of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed and confiscated 45 kilograms of hashish and 312 kilograms of marijuana.
Additionally, searches uncovered 1.6 tons of marijuana and one kilogram of hashish.
"The drugs were intended for wholesale and retail distribution in northern regions of Kazakhstan. A pre-trial investigation is underway under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code. The suspects are in custody," the statement said.
