Tengrinews.kz - From September 15, several organizations in Astana will begin operating under a new work schedule. The decision aims to ease traffic congestion during peak hours, the city akimat (local government administration) announced.

The changes will apply to government and quasi-governmental institutions located in the central districts of the capital.

“Starting September 15, the working day for municipal services will begin at 7:30 a.m., for the Astana akimat at 7:30 a.m., and for a number of state and quasi-state organizations between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. Accordingly, their closing times will also shift,” the akimat said in a statement.

The working hours of private businesses, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, clinics, public service centers (PSCs), and other social facilities will remain unchanged.

The akimat noted that some ministries and government agencies already begin work at 8:00 a.m., and the new measures are intended to reduce peak-hour traffic on major roads.

“In addition, parking and stopping violations that obstruct traffic will be monitored more strictly. Vehicles of persistent offenders will be towed to impound lots,” the statement added.
