Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan has been transformed into the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, according to Akorda.
The relevant decree was signed today by the President of Kazakhstan.
“To reorganize the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry by transforming it into the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, with the transfer of functions and powers related to innovation policy to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education,” the decree states.
The new Ministry of AI and Digital Development and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education will inherit the rights and obligations of the former ministry according to the transferred functions.
The government has been tasked with redistributing staff and implementing the necessary measures in coordination with the Presidential Administration.
The decree takes effect from September 18, 2025, and its execution will be overseen by the Presidential Administration.
Background: The former Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry had a broad mandate, which included oversight of the country’s innovation policies, space programs, and digital transformation. Now, the emphasis shifts toward artificial intelligence, signaling a strategic national focus on AI-driven development in the coming years.
