Tengrinews.kz - New committee against the 'black market' of water set up in Kazakhstan.

In order to strengthen the fight against the 'black market' of water, a new agency, the Committee for regulation, protection and utilisation of water, has been established under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.

The new committee will fight illegal use of water and distortion of water accounting data, as well as illegal economic activities on the country's water bodies.

"The ministry is taking the fight against illegal water use under special control. The work of the new committee is aimed at preventing offenses and protecting the country's water resources," said minister Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
