Tengrinews.kz – A silhouette resembling a sunken ship was discovered on the floor of the Caspian Sea near Aktau, sparking widespread discussion on social media, reports Lada.kz.
The outline of the object, believed to be a submerged vessel, was spotted on Google Maps about 1.5 kilometers from Cape Melovoy. The find is remarkable in size, with an estimated length of about 70 meters and a width of 15 meters.
Local fishermen claim that the area previously drew no attention, suggesting the ship may have become visible due to the receding water levels in the Caspian Sea. Representatives from a logistics company that monitors maritime routes noted that no prior data about this object had been recorded.
Bakhramzhan Novruzov, an instructor at the Typhoon diving center, said no inspection of the location had been carried out so far.
"We often receive such information from fishermen. Someone sees a ship's silhouette on Google Maps, and the story spreads. We haven't conducted a search or examined this specific site," Novruzov explained.
He added that divers hope to explore the site in May of next year.
Coordinates of the presumed sunken vessel: 43°N, 51°E.
