More than 2 600 workers went out to clear snow in Astana

Tengrinews.kz - Round-the-clock work continues in the capital to clear roads, streets, sidewalks and bus stops from snow and ice. Overnight, they removed almost a thousand trucks of snow from the city, according to the press service of the Astana Akimat.

Tengrinews.kz - Round-the-clock work continues in the capital to clear roads, streets, sidewalks and bus stops from snow and ice. Overnight, they removed almost a thousand trucks of snow from the city, according to the press service of the Astana Akimat.

According to the the Local Government Administration (Akimat), over 1 200 units of special equipment and more than 2 600 road workers are engaged in snow removal work during the day shift on November 22. Over the night from November 21 to 22, about 13 thousand cubic meters of snow were removed to snow disposal sites by 997 trips of heavy trucks. In total, there are several snow disposal sites in the capital equipped with a system for reading license plates of dump trucks.

Since the beginning of the winter period, about 570 thousand cubic meters of snow have been removed from the city on 44 829 trips.

“According to the rules, first of all, areas with very heavy traffic are cleared in the city so that there are no traffic jams. Also, areas with medium intensity are cleared of snow - squares, areas near railway stations, sidewalks, access roads to social facilities, etc. The priority is cleaning the central streets, passenger transport routes, stops and sidewalks," the statement said.

The Akimat called on residents and visitors of the capital to be careful on the roads, observe safety rules and refrain from long trips in the event of a storm warning.
