Tengrinews.kz - In Almaty, a moped rider who violated traffic rules struck a police officer and fled the scene.
According to the press service of the Almaty Police Department, the 20-year-old moped driver was riding in the oncoming lane on Tole Bi Avenue. Officers from a specialized police unit noticed the violation and attempted to stop the rider. However, the moped driver refused to comply with the lawful orders and hit one of the officers before trying to escape.

"The offender was quickly located and arrested. Multiple charges were brought against him, including refusal to comply with lawful police orders. The court sentenced him to ten days of administrative arrest. This is an outrageous incident. We will take strict action against such violations," said Serik Shumayev, head of the local police service of the Almaty Police Department.
Earlier, police in Almaty detained a foreign citizen for disobeying lawful police orders.
