Tengrinews.kz – The administration of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has released footage from military drones filmed at Victory Peak, where Russian mountaineer Natalia Nagovitsina has been stranded with a broken leg at an altitude of over 7,000 meters for more than two weeks, according to Kaktus.media.

A new comprehensive search and rescue operation was carried out on August 27 using advanced technologies, the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The SCNS stated that the drone footage did not reveal any signs that the climber is still alive.

“As part of the operation, aerial video surveillance was conducted in the area where the climber was last located using drones equipped with high-precision equipment. Despite extreme weather conditions, including strong wind gusts, thermal imaging drone footage was obtained. Based on the analysis of the collected data and considering all factors, including the severe weather and the nature of the location, no signs of life were found at the site where Nagovitsina was believed to be,” the statement said.

The rescue operation was suspended indefinitely due to worsening weather. The day before, Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations declared Nagovitsina missing. However, the climber’s son remains convinced she is still alive and has publicly appealed to the Russian authorities for help.

Natalia Nagovitsina suffered a leg fracture on August 12 while descending from Victory Peak, which stands at 7,439 meters. She managed to reach the Bird Rock at an altitude of about 7,100 meters, where she remained for 11 days in temperatures as low as –26°C. Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs is currently investigating the circumstances of the Russian climber’s ascent of Victory Peak.
