"On December 5, 2024, unfavorable meteorological conditions for air pollution are expected in Almaty, Shymkent, Atyrau, Pavlodar, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Temirtau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Ridder, and overnight in Astana," the statement reads.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions occur due to short-term weather factors such as calm winds, light breezes, fog, or atmospheric inversion, which contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere.
Earlier, forecasters clarified the weather outlook for the winter of 2024-2025 in Kazakhstan. While temperatures are expected to remain within climatic norms, precipitation levels may exceed the long-term average. However, periods of dry weather and unusually low temperatures are also anticipated.
