Tengrinews.kz – Unknown individuals are spreading information online claiming they will allegedly come to schools in Aktau and carry out shootings. In response, police have issued a statement to the city’s residents.
The authors of the post listed more than ten schools in Aktau where they allegedly “plan to come.”
“Dear residents! False information is being circulated in messaging apps about alleged terrorist attacks being prepared in schools. Please do not believe these rumors and do not forward unverified messages. Police are conducting checks, and all security measures have been strengthened. The situation is under control,” police of the Mangistau region said in a statement.
The city akimat also called the information false and shared police comments.
Police reminded the public that spreading false reports about terrorist acts is punishable by up to five years in prison.
Law enforcement urges Kazakhstani citizens to trust only official information.
It should be noted that threats to carry out attacks in schools in various cities of Kazakhstan have periodically appeared online in previous years.
This year, similar information spread in September in Atyrau and Balkhash, and in April in Semey. In October, such claims caused schools in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, to switch to remote learning.
