Medvedev spoke highly of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Tengrinews.kz reports citing the blog of the Russian President who arrived to Astana on June 14 for participation in the SCO summit.
Dmitry Medvedev met with Nursultan Nazarbayev. He noted that for him “it is very good, that the SCO summit opens with the talks with the President of Kazakhstan.”
Nursultan Nazarbayev told his Russian peer about the work done by Kazakhstan during its SCO chairmanship.
"Kazakhstan has made all the necessary preparatory works. Our chairmanship is finishing and now it is China's turn. We have held 110 events, prepared important documents for signing and had all their clauses and provisions approved. As the 10th anniversary is a holiday, it requires both business and celebrations parts,” Nazarbayev told Medvedev.
Speaking of the coming meeting of heads of the SCO member-states, Russia's President applauded Kazakhstan's chairmanship.
"Speaking of the business part of the summit, I see that good work has been done during Kazakhstan's chairmanship, serious documents have been approved, not just formal or holiday ones, but serious documents. I hope that we will discuss and adopt all of them during the working session,” Medvedev said.
