Tengrinews.kz - Mazhilis deputy Daulet Mukaev has proposed restricting the use of ChatGPT by schoolchildren in Kazakhstan, citing concerns over its impact on intellectual development.
According to the deputy, artificial intelligence (AI) "leads to the degradation of human intellectual potential" and diminishes critical thinking and analytical skills.
"Right now, schoolchildren are not doing their homework themselves. They just upload assignments to ChatGPT and wait for the answers. We have discussed this issue in relation to schoolchildren, students, and even government officials. But in my opinion, we need to impose restrictions specifically on schoolchildren. If we don't act now, these students will become university students, then enter the labor market, and in 20 years, we will reap the consequences of AI’s influence," Mukaev said during a presentation of a draft law on AI regulation.
The deputy identified this as one of the key threats facing Kazakhstan.
Earlier, another Mazhilis deputy, Anas Bakkozhayev, also warned that reliance on artificial intelligence could lead to intellectual decline. He admitted to fearing AI and urged people not to forget their traditions and culture.
During the discussion of legislative norms, Mazhilis deputy Elnur Beisenbaev expressed concern about how AI could influence various industries in Kazakhstan.
