Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov met with Head of Russian Federal Space Agency Vladimir Popovkin and Chairman of Kazakhstan National Space Agency Talgat Mussabayev, the PM’s official website writes. The meeting covered development of cooperation in space and implementation of scientific-research projects in particular. Prospects of joint use of Baikonur Cosmodrome were also reviewed. Intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in construction and launch of Kazakhstan satellite KazSat-3 was signed at Baikonur on July 16 prior to the launch of KazSat-2. Recently Popovkin also said that Russia is planning to modernize Baikonur. Head of Roskosmos added that another launch pad will be modified for launching Soyuz-2 rockets. Baiterek space launch center is to be constructed at Baikonur by 2017.
