Tengrinews.kz – A mass die-off of camels has been recorded in several villages of the Kurmangazy district in the Atyrau region, according to Khabar 24.
The deaths occurred in the villages of Dyngyzyl, Enbekshi, and Makash — nearly every household lost 6–7 adult animals along with their calves.
Local residents say a similar situation occurred last year, but the current die-off is the most widespread. According to them, veterinarians are on site and providing treatment, but no clear diagnosis has been made yet.
"I lost five camels and two calves. We live solely off our livestock," said Fazilya Kabdolova, a resident of Dyngyzyl village.
Currently, specialists are treating 47 animals. Samples have already been sent to a laboratory, but as reported by the National Veterinary Reference Center, no pathogen has been identified. The cause of the die-off remains unknown.
“We have a major request – determine an exact diagnosis. People are losing all their livestock,” said local resident Otegen Ubishev.
According to the regional agricultural department, the regional akimat has submitted a request to the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture to urgently send specialists. No response has been received yet.
Local residents fear they may lose all their remaining livestock if swift measures are not taken.
