Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about introducing artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan’s healthcare sector, citing Akorda.
The Head of State stressed the critical importance of using AI technologies in healthcare, noting that the sector has accumulated huge volumes of information. With AI, it is possible to create real tools for accurate diagnosis, treatment selection, and patient monitoring.
"Around the world, technologies are being actively applied that free doctors from routine tasks and allow them to focus on important clinical decisions. Kazakhstan also has promising medical startups, but their potential is often blocked by bureaucracy. At the same time, the country’s existing medical information systems are developing in a fragmented way, with no unified algorithm," Tokayev said at the meeting on AI.
According to him, this lack of consistency in digitalizing healthcare slows down the introduction of AI in the field and leads to various legal violations.
"In particular, an audit of the Social Health Insurance Fund (FSMS) conducted last year revealed major financial losses. Digital approaches will contribute to transparent and efficient operations in the healthcare sector," the President noted.
