Tengrinews.kz - A camera trap set up in the Katon-Karagai State National Natural Park has captured footage of rare inhabitants.
The video was shared on Instagram by the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife. This time, the camera recorded a lynx, a Siberian ibex, and an eagle.
"These unique shots serve as an important resource for studying wildlife and protecting rare species. Such findings open new opportunities for research and conservation of biodiversity in the Southern Altai," stated the committee.

According to the national park's website, the Arshatinsky Forestry is monitoring rare animals using camera traps to preserve biodiversity.
"Recently, one of the installed camera traps captured an image of a lynx, providing crucial information from both scientific and ecological perspectives. The lynx is a species of wild cat inhabiting the mountainous areas of our country, including the Katon-Karagai National Park. These animals typically remain out of human sight, but their protection is extremely important. These predators play a key role in maintaining the biological balance," the park's announcement highlighted.
The park also recalled that Siberian ibexes freely traverse the mountain peaks and steep cliffs, adapting to the extreme conditions of nature. According to monitoring data, approximately 900 Siberian ibexes reside in Katon-Karagai National Park.
A camera trap is a device equipped with a motion sensor that automatically takes photos or videos when movement is detected in the filming area. It is used for wildlife observation, territory protection, and monitoring objects.
In October, another lynx, listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature, was spotted in the Altyn-Emel National Park.
