Tengrinews.kz - A lion cub was attempted to be sold in Shymkent, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On November 20, police officers discovered an attempt to sell a lion cub near one of the city's markets. Operatives found the lion cub in the trunk of a car belonging to a resident of the Turkestan region.

The police have registered a criminal case regarding the illegal handling of rare and endangered species of animals, as well as species prohibited for use. Investigative measures are currently underway.

Earlier, three zoo employees were convicted for attempting to sell newborn lion cubs in Karaganda.
