Tengrinews.kz - A member of Kyrgyzstan’s Jogorku Kenesh, Bekmyrza Ergeshov, has proposed introducing driving lessons in schools, according to 24.kg.
Speaking at a meeting of the Mekenchil parliamentary group, Ergeshov argued that such training would better prepare students for driving exams than private driving schools.
He recalled that Kyrgyz schools previously taught road safety and operated machinery, including tractors.
"This subject should be introduced for 10th- and 11th-grade students. Some people struggle to pass driving tests even after a year and a half in private schools. Everyone wants to drive, but only private schools profit from this, and who knows how well they teach? That’s why it would be right to introduce driving as a school subject," Ergeshov said.
In response, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Education, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, noted that similar courses are already planned as part of the country's transition to a 12-year education system.
Previously, members of the Kyrgyz Parliament called for the unblocking of TikTok in the country.
