Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet has published a warning on its official website for residents of Astana, Almaty, and other cities.
The information concerns the air quality forecast for Thursday.
“On April 2, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Petropavlovsk, Kokshetau, Pavlodar, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Temirtau, Atyrau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Ridder, Semey, Almaty, and Astana,” the statement said.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions associated with air pollution refer to a combination of short-term weather factors — such as calm conditions, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion — that contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the near-surface layer of the atmosphere.
As a reminder, warm spring weather is expected in southern Kazakhstan, with temperatures rising to 30–32°C. It will be noticeably cooler in the north, with fog and icy conditions in some places.
In the west, some cities will see rain, thunderstorms, and stronger winds. In the east, no precipitation is forecast, though fog may occasionally occur in the morning.
