Kazhydromet warns residents of Astana, Almaty, and four other cities

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet has published a warning on its official website for residents of Astana, Almaty, and other cities.

The information concerns the air quality forecast for Friday.

“On March 27, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Temirtau, Petropavlovsk, and Pavlodar,” the statement says.

Unfavorable meteorological conditions associated with air pollution are a combination of short-term weather factors such as calm air, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion, which contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

According to forecasters, Astana is expected to have partly cloudy weather with no precipitation. Roads may be icy at night and in the morning. Easterly wind at 3–8 m/s. Air temperature: -2 to -4°C at night, +9 to +11°C during the day.

In Almaty, the weather will also be partly cloudy with no precipitation. Southeasterly wind shifting to westerly at 3–8 m/s. Air temperature: +6 to +8°C at night, +22 to +24°C during the day.

In Karaganda, partly cloudy weather is expected with no precipitation, and fog at times. Easterly to northeasterly wind at 3–8 m/s. Air temperature: 0 to +2°C at night, +13 to +15°C during the day. In the Karaganda Region, dry weather is also forecast. Fog is possible in the west, north, and east of the region. Easterly to northeasterly wind at 7–12 m/s, with gusts up to 15 m/s in the south in the morning and daytime. Air temperature: from -2 to +3°C at night, down to -7°C in the east; during the day +10 to +15°C, +5°C in the west, and +18°C in the south.

In Petropavlovsk, the weather will be partly cloudy, with no precipitation, fog, and icy conditions. Southeasterly wind at 2–7 m/s. Air temperature: 0 to +2°C at night, +9 to +11°C during the day.

In Pavlodar, partly cloudy weather is expected with no precipitation and fog. Roads may be icy at night and in the morning. Northwesterly wind at 5–10 m/s. Air temperature: 0 to -2°C at night, +10 to +12°C during the day.
