Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet has issued a warning for residents of Almaty and several other cities on its official website.
The alert pertains to the air quality forecast for Monday.
"On June 22, adverse weather conditions are expected in Almaty and Taldykorgan, as well as overnight in Temirtau and Karaganda," the report states.
Adverse meteorological conditions referring to air pollution are a combination of short-term weather factors (calm winds, light breezes, fog, and temperature inversions) that facilitate the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere.
According to meteorologists, Almaty will see variable cloudiness and no precipitation. Southwesterly winds are expected at 3-8 meters per second. Temperatures will range from
20-22°C at night to highs of 31-33°C during the day.
Karaganda will experience variable cloudiness with no precipitation. Northeasterly winds will reach 2-7 meters per second at night and 6-11 meters per second during the day. Temperatures will range from 17-19°C at night to highs of 31-33°C. No precipitation is forecast for the Karaganda region. Northeasterly winds will reach 9-14 meters per second. Overnight temperatures will be 15-20°C, reaching 25°C in the south, while daytime highs will hit 29-34°C, with extreme heat up to 38°C in the west and south.
Taldykorgan will see variable cloudiness and no precipitation. Northeasterly winds are expected at 3-8 meters per second. Temperatures will range from 15-17°C at night to extreme daytime highs of 33-35°C.
