Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has published a warning on its official website for residents of Almaty and Atyrau.
The information concerns the air quality forecast for Monday.
“On 5 January 2026, unfavourable meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Atyrau and Almaty,” the statement reads.
Unfavourable meteorological conditions in terms of air pollution are a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm, light wind, fog, temperature inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

According to Kazhydromet, partly cloudy, dry weather is expected in Almaty, with fog possible at night and in the morning. Nighttime air temperature will be -1…-3 °C, daytime temperature +1…+3 °C.
In Atyrau, partly cloudy weather without precipitation is also forecast, with fog possible at times. Nighttime air temperature will be -0…-2 °C, daytime temperature +2…+4 °C.
