Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has issued a weather warning for residents of Astana, Almaty, and other cities in Kazakhstan.
"On July 15, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Karaganda, Temirtau, Aktobe, and Almaty, and at night – in Atyrau and Astana," the statement said.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions are a combination of short-term weather factors (calm, light wind, fog, temperature inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the lower layers of the atmosphere.
A temperature inversion is a weather phenomenon where warm air overlays cooler air, essentially trapping it. Normally, the air near the ground is warmer and rises, dispersing pollutants. However, during an inversion, the cooler air is “locked” below, along with exhaust gases, dust, and smoke. As a result, pollutants accumulate near the ground surface, especially in urban areas.

On July 15, Astana will have partly cloudy skies, with rain and thunderstorms during the day. Northwest wind at 3–8 m/s at night, 9–14 m/s during the day. Temperatures: night: 10–12°C, day: 23–25°C.
Weather in Almaty
On July 15, Almaty will be partly cloudy, with light brief rain and thunderstorms in the evening. Southeast wind at 3–8 m/s, with gusts up to 15 m/s during the day.
Temperatures: night: 20–22°C, day: 32–34°C.
