Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet warned residents of Astana, Almaty, and other cities about air pollution risks.
"On February 4, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions for air pollution are expected in Karaganda, Temirtau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Aktobe, Almaty, and Astana," the statement said.
Unfavorable weather conditions result from short-term meteorological factors such as calm winds, weak air movement, fog, and temperature inversion, which contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the lower atmosphere.
Earlier, forecasters clarified the weather forecast for winter 2024/2025 in Kazakhstan. It is noted that in general, the winter temperature regime is expected to be within the climatic norm with precipitation exceeding the long-term norm. However, periods with cessation of precipitation and abnormally low air temperatures are not excluded.
