Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet has published a warning on its official website for residents of Astana, Almaty and two other cities.

The information concerns the air quality forecast for Monday.

“On July 13, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Astana, and at night in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Ridder and Almaty,” the statement said.

Unfavorable meteorological conditions in the form of air pollution are a combination of short-term meteorological factors, such as calm weather, weak wind, fog and inversion, that contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the near-surface layer of the atmosphere.

According to forecasters, Astana will see partly cloudy weather with no precipitation. The wind will be southeasterly, shifting to northwesterly, at 3–8 meters per second. Air temperatures will be 18–20°C at night, with intense heat of up to 34–36°C during the day.

In Almaty, partly cloudy weather is expected, with short-term rain and a thunderstorm during the day. The wind will be northwesterly at 3–8 meters per second, with daytime gusts of up to 13 meters per second. Air temperatures will be 21–23°C at night, with intense heat of up to 33–35°C during the day.

In Ust-Kamenogorsk, the weather will be partly cloudy with no precipitation. The wind will be northwesterly, 1–6 meters per second at night and 5–10 meters per second during the day. Air temperatures will be 11–13°C at night, with heat of up to 30–32°C during the day.

No precipitation is forecast in East Kazakhstan region. During the day, thunderstorms are possible in the north and east. The wind will be northwesterly at 9–14 meters per second, reaching 15–20 meters per second in the north and south during the day. Air temperatures will be 11–16°C at night, with intense heat of up to 30–35°C during the day, and 27°C in the north and east.
