Kazhydromet warned residents of Astana, Almaty, and four other cities

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet has published a warning on its official website for residents of Astana, Almaty, and other cities.

The information concerns the air quality forecast for the upcoming Wednesday.

“On April 29, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Atyrau, Aktobe, Almaty, and Astana, and during the day in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey,” the statement said.

Unfavorable weather conditions associated with air pollution are a combination of short-term meteorological factors — calm winds, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion — that contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

According to the forecast, Astana is expected to have partly cloudy weather on Wednesday with no precipitation. Southerly winds will be 3–8 meters per second. Air temperature will be 2 to 4 degrees Celsius at night, with frost down to 1 degree on the soil surface, and 21 to 23 degrees during the day.

In Almaty, partly cloudy weather is expected, with no precipitation forecast. Northeasterly winds will be 3–8 meters per second. Air temperature will be 10 to 12 degrees Celsius at night and 24 to 26 degrees during the day.

In Aktobe, partly cloudy weather with no precipitation is expected. Variable winds will be 2–7 meters per second. Air temperature will be 1 to 3 degrees Celsius at night and 16 to 18 degrees during the day.

In Atyrau, the weather will be mostly clear with no precipitation. Northwesterly winds shifting to northeasterly will be 2–7 meters per second. Air temperature will be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius at night and 18 to 20 degrees during the day.

In Semey, partly cloudy weather with no precipitation is expected. Northeasterly winds will be 7–12 meters per second at night and 3–8 meters per second during the day. Air temperature will be 3 to 5 degrees Celsius at night and 24 to 26 degrees during the day.

In Ust-Kamenogorsk, partly cloudy weather with no precipitation is expected. Northerly and northeasterly winds will be 5–10 meters per second at night and 2–7 meters per second during the day. Air temperature will be 0 to 2 degrees Celsius at night and 24 to 26 degrees during the day.
