Tengrinews.kz - Meteorologists from Kazhydromet have warned residents of Almaty and four other cities.
"On December 27, 2024, unfavorable meteorological conditions leading to air pollution are expected in the cities of Almaty, Aktobe, Uralsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and Zhezkazgan," the statement says.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions represent a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm weather, weak winds, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the near-surface layer of the atmosphere.
Earlier, forecasters clarified the weather forecast for winter 2024/2025 in Kazakhstan. It is noted that in general, the winter temperature regime is expected to be within the climatic norm with precipitation exceeding the long-term norm. However, periods with cessation of precipitation and abnormally low air temperatures are not excluded.
