Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet has issued warnings about weather conditions for residents of Astana, Almaty, and five other cities.
"On October 18, 2024, unfavorable meteorological conditions for air pollution are expected in the cities of Petropavlovsk, Pavlodar, Karaganda, Temirtau, Almaty, Astana, and during the night in Kostanay," the report says.
These unfavorable conditions arise from a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm, light wind, fog, inversion) which contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the lower layers of the atmosphere.
Meteorologists have also provided a forecast for synoptic conditions and hazardous weather events across Kazakhstan for October 18.
"As atmospheric fronts move across the country's western, eastern, and southeastern regions, precipitation is expected in the form of rain in the west, and mixed precipitation (rain and snow) in the east and southeast. Heavy rains are predicted in the western part of the country during the day. In other areas, dry weather is expected under the influence of an anticyclone. Fog is forecast across the country at night and in the morning, with strong winds in the west, south, and east, and dust storms in the south. Black ice is expected in the east and southeast," the meteorologists reported.
Frosts of 1-6 degrees are expected overnight in the Almaty and Zhetysu regions and will persist in the Turkestan and Zhambyl regions.
Earlier, meteorologists unveiled the long-awaited forecast for Kazakhstan's 2024/2025 winter. Experts say the season will bring typical conditions, including frequent precipitation and sharp temperature changes.
