Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has once again issued a warning for residents of Almaty.
“On August 13, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in the city of Almaty,” the statement said.
It should be noted that on August 12, forecasters had already warned Almaty residents about adverse weather conditions.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions are a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm, light wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of the atmosphere.
An inversion is a weather phenomenon in which warm air is located above cold air, as if covering it. Normally, the air near the ground is warmer and rises, carrying away pollutants. But during an inversion, cold air becomes “trapped” below, along with exhaust fumes, dust, and smoke. As a result, pollutants accumulate near the ground, especially in cities.
