Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet has published a warning for residents of Atyrau on its official website.
The notice concerns the air quality forecast for this coming Thursday.
“On December 18, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in the city of Atyrau,” the statement said.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions related to air pollution are a combination of short-term weather factors (calm conditions, light wind, fog, temperature inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of the atmosphere.
Earlier, Kazhydromet issued storm warnings for almost the entire country for Thursday. In particular, fog and icy conditions are possible in the south and east of the Atyrau Region.
In Atyrau, variable cloudiness is expected: snow at night, and light precipitation during the day (rain and snow), with icy conditions. Air temperatures will be –2 to –4°C at night and 0 to +2°C during the day.
Previously, forecasters released a weather forecast for December 18, 19, and 20. It was reported that a large cyclone will continue to affect most of Kazakhstan; therefore, snow and blizzards are expected to persist. In the south and southeast of the country, precipitation in the form of rain and snow and icy conditions are forecast, with blizzards in mountainous areas.
