Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has issued a warning for residents of Almaty and other Kazakh cities.
“On August 6, 2025, adverse meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and overnight in the cities of Atyrau and Ust-Kamenogorsk,” the statement reads.
Background: Adverse meteorological conditions are a combination of short-term weather factors (calm, light wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the lower layers of the atmosphere.
Inversion is a weather phenomenon where warm air settles above cold air, effectively “trapping” it. Normally, air near the ground is warmer and rises, carrying away pollutants. During an inversion, however, cold air stays near the surface along with exhaust fumes, dust, and smoke, causing pollution to accumulate, especially in urban areas.
Weather in Almaty
On August 6, Almaty will see partly cloudy skies with no precipitation. Northern wind at 3–8 meters per second is expected. Nighttime temperatures will be 16–18°C, daytime temperatures 28–30°C.
