Kazhydromet issued air pollution warning for Astana and Almaty

Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet has issued an air pollution warning for residents of Astana, Almaty, and several other cities across Kazakhstan.

"On February 5, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions for air pollution are expected in the cities of Pavlodar, Semey, Ridder, Aktobe, Almaty, and Astana," the agency reported.

Unfavorable meteorological conditions refer to a combination of short-term weather factors—such as calm winds, light breezes, fog, and temperature inversions—that contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the lower layers of the atmosphere.

In Astana, partly cloudy skies are expected with no precipitation. Fog will occur at night and in the morning. Winds will be from the east and northeast at 3-8 m/s at night and 7-12 m/s during the day. Temperatures will range from -12 to -14°C at night and -4 to -6°C during the day.

Almaty will also experience partly cloudy weather without precipitation. Fog is expected at night and in the morning, with icy conditions on the roads. Eastern winds will blow at 2-7 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will drop to -9 to -11°C, rising to 0 to -2°C during the day.
