Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has issued a warning for residents of Almaty and other cities across different regions of the country.
"On February 14, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions contributing to air pollution are expected in the cities of Atyrau, Aktobe, Aktau, and Almaty," the statement said.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) refer to weather phenomena that promote the accumulation of harmful substances in the air. These typically include calm weather, weak winds, fog, or temperature inversions, which cause pollutants to linger near the ground and worsen air quality.
On February 14, Almaty will experience partly cloudy weather with no precipitation. Fog is expected at times, and roads may be icy. The wind will be easterly at 2-7 meters per second. Temperatures will range from -5 to -7°C at night and +1 to +3°C during the day.
