Tengrinews.kz - The Bureau of National Statistics has announced the population of Kazakhstan as of March 1, 2025.
According to the bureau, as of March 1, 2025, 20,316,155 people lived in the country.
The most densely populated regions of Kazakhstan are still Almaty and the Turkestan region: 2,300,876 and 2,154,130 people lived there, respectively.
The population has exceeded 1 million in five regions of the country: Almaty Region (1,566,257 people), Astana (1,544,142 people), Shymkent (1,261,709 people), Zhambyl (1,221,439 people), and Karaganda (1,133,524 people) regions.
The ratio of urban and rural population in Kazakhstan as of March 1 was distributed as follows: 12,813,769 people lived in cities and 7,502,386 people lived in villages. Compared to the beginning of the year, the number of rural residents has decreased by almost 8 thousand people. At the same time, the urban population, on the contrary, has increased by more than 40 thousand people.
