Tengrinews.kz – Reconstruction work is underway at three border checkpoints between Kazakhstan and Russia, which may lead to longer waiting times when crossing the border, according to the Border Service of the National Security Committee (NSC).
The checkpoints under reconstruction are Syrym, Alimbet, and Kosak.
The Syrym checkpoint is located on the Kazakhstan–Russia border in the West Kazakhstan region, along the international highway M-32 Samara–Shymkent. Its corresponding checkpoint on the Russian side is Mashtakovo.
The Alimbet checkpoint lies on the Kazakhstan–Russia border in the Aktobe region, opposite the Orsk checkpoint in Russia.
The Kosak checkpoint is in the Uspen district of Pavlodar region, also on the border with Russia, and serves as a vehicular crossing point.
“We ask travelers to take these circumstances into account and plan their routes in advance,” the Border Service said in a statement.
Other border checkpoints are operating as normal, and no restrictive measures have been introduced at the state border.
