Tengrinews.kz - Vice-minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Ermek Kenzhehanuly, addressed concerns regarding a possible increase in meat prices.
According to Kenzhehanuly, over 1.1 million tons of beef and lamb were produced in Kazakhstan last year, which fully meets the country’s domestic demand.
"If we look at last year’s results, production increased by approximately 4 percent, including more than 2 percent growth in beef production. These measures allow us to fully meet the population's meat needs; therefore, we currently see no production-related factors that would drive up meat prices," Kenzhehanuly stated on the sidelines of the Senate.
The vice minister noted that the previous price surge was driven by high demand from Uzbekistan.
"However, over the past week, we have observed price stabilization, and we do not foresee any further price hikes. Currently, we are considering providing preferential financing at a 5 percent interest rate for working capital to support livestock farmers. These measures will further stimulate meat production in the country. At the moment, the average price for beef is around 2,700-3,000 tenge per kilogram," he added.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan plans to export meat to Turkey.
