Kazakhstanis to be allowed to opt out of annoying mobile operator service
Tengrinews.kz — New rules for telecom operators are being introduced in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstanis will be able to opt out of annoying advertising mailings and so-called “beacons” during auto dialing. This was announced by Vice Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Doszhan Musaliyev.
When the function will start working
According to Doszhan Musaliyev, the law regulating this issue will come into force at the end of August.
Bylaws for it are currently being developed. For example, in June, a provision was adopted that defines the procedure for the new function allowing users to opt out of advertising mailings and Auto dialing by telecom operators.
“These issues were widely raised by the public. A person would call someone, and when that person became available, the operator would notify the caller with a ‘beacon.’ This could happen at night. Now this will no longer happen. Instead, there will only be messages,” he said.
Talk of banning auto dialing in Kazakhstan began back in May 2026. At that time, Mazhilis deputy Askhat Aimagambetov said such calls had long become a problem for Kazakhstanis and recalled that deputies had already proposed banning them. In response, Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev said the proposal would be considered.
What else is the problem
The issue of calls from unknown numbers regularly becomes relevant amid the rise in phone scams.
Earlier, Tengrinews.kz reported on a scheme in which a person first received a call with the message “your loan has been approved,” after which scammers posing as Interior Ministry employees contacted them and persuaded them to transfer money.
