Kazakhstan to launch 3 IT colleges by 2015

According to the Strategic Plan of the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Communications and Information for 2011-2015, Kazakhstan plans to launch 3 IT colleges by 2015, Novosti Kazakhstan reports. According to the document, the colleges will start enrolling students from 2012. In 2009 Kazakhstan launched the International University of Information Technology in Almaty in partnership with the US Carnegie Mellon University. The Almaty-based university offers a four-year program and will issue a certificate from Carnegie Mellon as well as a state diploma to graduates. Areas of study include information systems, computers and software, informatics and IT management. According to the Strategic Plan, “a total of 600 students are now taking the course at the University”.
