Kazakhstan to complete grain sowing campaign before the end of the week

Kazakhstan, which is among the top six grain exporters in the world, is to complete its sowing campaign before the end of the week, Novosti Kazakhstan quoted Agriculture Minister Assylzhan Mamytbekov as saying today. “84.3% of the crops sowing campaign is complete. These are 13.5 million hectares out of 16 million hectares planes”, the Minister said. Estimated grain exports in 2011 stand at 5.5-6 million tons. According to the Government’s web-site, grain harvest in 2010 totaled 12.2 million tons (net weight). Grain harvest of 2009 made up 22.7 million tons (bunker weight).
