Tengrinews.kz – At a meeting of the National Kurultai, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced plans to abolish the post of State Adviser.

“A number of administrative structures that support the work of the current Parliament are to be abolished, as well as the position of State Adviser,” the Head of State said.

President Tokayev signed the decree on the status and powers of the State Adviser in June 2022.

According to the document, the State Adviser is an official of the Republic of Kazakhstan who is appointed to and dismissed from the post by the President. The Adviser carries out their activities under the direct leadership of the President and is accountable and subordinate to him. The full text of the document is available on Akorda’s website.

Erlan Karin, the former State Secretary, was appointed State Adviser.

The 5th session of the National Kurultai is currently taking place in Kyzylorda. As previously reported by Presidential Assistant and Press Secretary Ruslan Zheldibay, during the event President Tokayev is expected to deliver a speech outlining the main directions for Kazakhstan’s future development and addressing pressing social issues.
