Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstan has temporarily closed a border checkpoint with Russia, citing Rosgranstroy.
Due to flooding of the Bersuat River on the Kazakh side, the passage of people, vehicles, and cargo through the Zhelkuar road checkpoint in Kostanay Region (Mariinsky on the Russian side) has been temporarily suspended starting March 27, 2026.
“For this reason, traffic through the Mariinsky road checkpoint, located on the Russian side in the Chelyabinsk Region, has been temporarily suspended,” Rosgranstroy said in a statement.
The agency also urged citizens and drivers to take this information into account when planning to cross the Russian-Kazakh section of the state border.
