Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan is ready, as a gesture of goodwill, to assist in resolving the Iranian nuclear issue if relevant international agreements are reached and the matter moves into a practical phase. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this during a meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, citing Akorda.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this during a meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, citing Akorda.

Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to using nuclear energy exclusively for peaceful purposes under IAEA control.

It was noted that Kazakhstan enjoys broad international trust in the field of nuclear non-proliferation and has the necessary infrastructure, expertise and scientific and technical base for the safe handling of sensitive nuclear materials.

Kazakhstan is home to the world’s only IAEA Low Enriched Uranium Bank.

The Head of State also noted the importance of coordinating Kazakhstan’s and Brazil’s efforts on international security, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
