Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan plans to launch its first rocket into space, with new details emerging from the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry.

Previously, Minister Zhaslan Madiyev announced that Kazakhstan aims to launch a domestically produced rocket by 2025 to establish independent access to space.

In response to an official request from Tengrinews.kz, the ministry shared that while most information regarding rocket technology and related projects remains classified, some details have been disclosed.

Currently, Kazakhstan is conducting preliminary research to develop a domestic meteorological rocket, with the first test launch scheduled for 2025. Specialists are working on fuel, composite materials, and control systems, along with designing its main subsystems.

"The successful development of a meteorological rocket could lay the groundwork for producing a domestically made carrier rocket, enabling independent access to space. Based on global experience, the estimated budget required to create and launch rockets for commercial use is around $50-60 million," the ministry stated.

Funding for the meteorological rocket project is covered within the ministry’s research budget, with the necessary budget for a carrier rocket to be determined after the design phase is completed.

In August, it was also announced that Kazakhstan and China plan to build a research station on the Moon, following a memorandum signed between the two nations for the joint construction of a scientific base.
