Kazakhstan suggested to develop a food aid system under the Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC), Tengrinews.kz reports. Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that it is necessary to launch measures to ensure food security in his speech at the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum. “I propose to develop a food aid system under the Organization for Islamic Conference. It may be based on a regional fund, like the Food and Agriculture Organization in the Islamic Development Bank, and OIC the member-states' food pool. I offer to place its head-quarters in Kazakhstan, because it is a country that is actively developing its food export potential,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said. The President noted that one of the objectives of the Forum is to introduce Kazakhstan's business and investment potential to the Islamic business world. Several memorandums between Kazakhstan and representatives of the Islamic community were signed during the Forum, including Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Development Bank.
